Coptocercus truncatus is een keversoort uit de familie van de boktorren (Cerambycidae). De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort werd voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1917 door Christopher Aurivillius. (bezocht 30 januari 2014) "Results of Dr E. Mjöberg's Swedish Scientific Expedition to Australia 1910-1913. 12. Cerambycidae." Arkiv för Zoologi, Band 10, no. 23 (1916-1917). Gearchiveerd op 24 september 2015. De soort werd door Eric Mjöberg ontdekt in Atherton in Queensland (Australië).
