SlankmierenNederlands Soortenregister: Slankmieren Leptothorax (Leptothorax) vormen een geslacht van kleine mieren die voornamelijk voorkomen in het Holarctisch gebied. Opmerkelijk aan dit geslacht is het veelvuldig voorkomen van sociaal parasitisme, wat wil zeggen dat soorten uit dit geslacht gedurende een deel van hun levenscyclus afhankelijk zijn van de hulp van werksters van andere mierensoorten. Leptothorax was een soortenrijk geslacht totdat Bolton in 2003 een nieuwe indeling van de familie Formicidae voorstelde, waarbij veel soorten uit Leptothorax sensu lato in de geslachten Temnothorax en Nesomyrmex werden geplaatst.<ref>Bolton, B.
