Bathyplotes natans is een zeekomkommer uit de familie Synallactidae.
De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort werd in 1868 als Holothuria natans gepubliceerd door Michael Sars. In 1896 was Hjalmar Östergren de eerste die de soort in het geslacht Bathyplotes plaatste.
